the viceroy holds court in karachi

Just look at how cool and confident he is. Miliband, you own this town. It’s all in the body language – the way he talks, they way he walks, his posture – as the band of local informants follows him around and looks up to him, hoping to be graced by his attention. One could be forgiven for thinking that he is the foreign secretary of Pakistan.

And the same is reflected in his words. When he spoke at Jinnah’s mausoleum, he expressed his concern at the recent political violence in Karachi, and how that has “marred” the city’s image in the rest of the world. He said he wants to see and end to the violence soon.

That’s all well and true, but I wonder, when will a Pakistani diplomat visit the UK and express her/his concern about the problems in London?
